But I can't deny what my eyes have seen and my ears have heard.
I am 22-years old now, and I am experiencing again something. Iwas beginning to believe was my imagination. When I was 11, I had my first concious experience with the supernatural. I had what I'll dismiss as a dream when I was very young--surreal but possibly my imagination.
Anyway, It was early January of 1988 and I had a king-sizewaterbed. My little sister's room would get really cold in the winter, so sometimes she would sleep in my (heated) bed. Every week night, I would watch the original Star Trek at 12:35 a.m.. Itwas syndicated by one of the local affiliates--ABC I think. My TV was right next to the left side of the bed, so when Star Trekended i could just reach over and turn it off. I can rememberthat it was a push-button TV because i used to push the button twice, quickly, and roll over. A couple of seconds later, it would turn back on, and I would tell my sister that a ghost wasturning it back on. She was scared the first few times, but by this time, I was just saying it out of routine. We would chuckleand go to sleep.
On this particular night, she already was asleep when the show ended, so I just turned the TV off and rolled over. Keep in mind,it's got to be close to 1:05 a.m. because that's when the show ended. Before I even could get comfortable I heard the refrigerator door open. I could see the refrigerator from my bedroom door when I would look out and to the left. my room isjust right of the living room and the kithen is on the other sideof the living room from my room. I didn't think a whole lot about it at first. I just figured it was my dad. But my dad very seldom gets up after he's gone down. Then I heard the refrigerator shut—end of story I figured. Wrong. It opened again and shut again. Then it opened again and shut again. I was not yet scared, but I was confused. I got up to see what the hell my dad was doing. When I looked out the door I saw the refrigerator open again, but no one was standing there to open it. It closed and opened three or four more times before I gathered! ! enough of myself to grab ablanket and make a break for my parents room, where I slept on the floor for the next two weeks--never telling my parents what happened but instead letting them worry about what a weird I was being.
I did not experience anything else, so I began to think I had anover-active imagination and moved back into my room. About amonth later, my dad and I were up watching a rerun of Benson on TV. He was sitting in his recliner in front of and to the left of the love seat where I was sitting. Out of the blue,he turned to me and asked "Do you promise not to get scared if I tell you something strange." I said "Sure dad."I was thinking "Cool, a ghost story." He looked me in the eyes and with all sriousness said "I saw a ghost."I thought "Yeah right." He said "I'm not shittin'you. It was a few weeks ago, and I've been trying to get my headon straight before I told anyone." Immediately, my thought sturned to the refrigerator incident. He said "I was asleepin my bed when I swear somebody shook me and woke me up. When Iopened my eyes, there was a lady standing over me--over my bed. Ithought alright Mike, you're seein' shit wake up. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the clock. When I turned to look back at her, she still was there--not threatening or anything, just looking at me. I closed my eyes again, and when I opened them she was gone." I said, already not wanting to know the answer"What time was it?" My heart fell into my shoes before he could get the entire answer out "It was 1:06." He said.
I slept in my parents room for the next month.
I have told only a few people this story over the years and was beginning to believe again thet it was my imagination. But my girlfriend and two of her friends recently moved into a new house. And that son of a bitch is haunted--no doubt about it.
She's been in the place for about five months and I have alway gotten a stange vibe from the place. But Last Saturday (Nov. 14)night or Sunday Morning (I'm not sure, but it was around midnight)I was sitting in their living room half watching TV. her roomate was in a chair and I was on the couch. There is a big doorway to the left of the couch that leads to the dining room/kitchen. On the left is the kitchen and and on the right is the door to the garage. I don't know what pulled my stare away from the TV, but I looked to the kitchen. What I saw (or imagined--but I trust my perfect vision and no history of mental illness) was the figure of a man. It was orangish in color. It was only visible from the shoulders to a few inches below the knees. But it definitely was a man. It was moving quickly from south to north toward the door to the garage like it was in a hurry. I saw it for only a few feet of its journey, but that was enough to stun me. I turned back to the TV and slowly started to process what I had seen.I did not want to tell my girlfriend about it until I had evaluated the situation. Besides, one of her best friends growingup (Jason) grew up in that house. That's why she decided to rent it. He was killed in a car accident in January of 1995. I knew she would assume it was his ghost and flip out if I said anything. It was not his ghost. I have seen many pictures of him, and he was a big guy. He had a large chest and arms. The figure I saw was slender.
Any way I needed to talk to someone about, so I told her roommate. She looked at me funny and told she was glad, because that means she wasn't going crazy. She said she hears strange noises when she is in her room in the afternoons. She said it's the sound of the front door unlocking and opening. Then it's the sound of someone walking through the hall. I really believe her, beacuse there are hard-wood floors under the carpet through the house, and the sound of foot steps on the floor is very distiguished from the sound of the house settling. Also, I was trying to sleep in my girlfriend's room at about 1:45 a.m. lastweek. I heard what sounded like a plastic cup full of liquid fall from the countertop in the kithen, hit the tile floor and spill. When I got up, nothing was in the floor.
